Proposed Time Change for Elementary Schools

There is a proposal from the Board of Education to change the start and end times of the elementary schools next year. Here is what Dr. George has offered as background information into why this proposal was made:

“The reason for the proposed time change is the ongoing transportation issues. District Administration has been closely monitoring our transportation program and working with the elementary building administrators to address issues throughout the school year. To assist in efficiently managing our transportation resources, we have contracted an independent expert to review our transportation schedules and routes. We also researched starting and ending times in the surrounding districts.

Please keep in mind that the development of the proposed change takes into consideration there is significantly more time, approximately 45 minutes, between elementary and secondary schedules in the morning than in the afternoon, when there is 23 minutes between middle and elementary end times. It is more efficient to move the elementary starting time later.”

This proposal will be discussed at the PIC meeting on May 9th. If you have any concerns, please email them to ptowizard@gmail.com by the end of this week, so our PIC reps can present them to Dr. George. Voting will take place at the May 23rd Board of Education meeting.
