Science Fair/Assembly and Other Upcoming Events

Science Fair and Liberty Science Center Assembly – Tuesday, May 31st

Tomorrow is the Science Fair and Liberty Science Center Assembly. The 1st session of the Liberty Science Center Assembly is from 4:30-5:30pm and the 2nd session is from 6:00-7:00pm. Parents or a designated adult are required to stay to chaperone their children.

 

As per previous email blasts sent by the PTO and information sent home by the teachers, please have your child set up their projects at 8:30am. Our fourth and fifth grade teachers are in charge of the Science Fair and we appreciate them encouraging our young scientists. The Science Fair projects are open to family viewing from 7:00 to 7:45pm.

 

If you have not RSVP’d to the Liberty Science Center Assembly, please send an email to Christine Butler at caleighbutlersmom@gmail.com.

 

Events like this are paid for by your PTO donations and fundraising, so our children thank you for your support!

Fairview Garden Update

Planting in our school garden is almost complete! Please stop by and check out the new space and see the plants our children are growing. We are now turning our attention, especially with the warm weather, to keeping our crop watered. The children love helping with this and we are in need of child sized watering cans. If you have any small watering cans, either used or new, that you can donate, or you are interested in volunteering in the garden, please contact Christine Butler at caleighbutlersmom@gmail.com or Julie Donohue at julied631@gmail.com. Field Day – Friday, June 3rd (Rain Date Monday, June 6th)

Come join the fun! Please join us for our annual Field Day events on Friday, June 3rd! (The rain date is Monday, June 6th.) Refer to the Field Day 2016 flyer for more information.

 

Many volunteers are needed to make Field Day successful for our children. Please consider volunteering for games, lunches and much more. Please sign up at the Fairview Field Day 2016 SignUpGenius.

 

Don’t forget that all class parents are required to volunteer. If you cannot attend, then you are responsible for finding a replacement. Please note on the signup if you are a replacement for a certain class parent.

Free Lead Screening for Students and Staff

Free lead screening will be available to students and staff of the Middletown Township Public Schools on June 1 at River Plaza School from 3 p.m. through 6 p.m. The program is being facilitated by the Monmouth County Health Department in coordination with the Middletown Township Health Department. Representatives from the Middletown Health Department will be on hand to provide information and answer questions, and nurses from the Monmouth County Health Department will provide the screening. To schedule an appointment, please call the Middletown Board of Education at 732-671-3850 by noon on Tuesday, May 31.

Upcoming Events

New PTO Secretary Needed!

A new Secretary is needed for the PTO Executive Board. The Secretary’s responsibilities include recording the minutes of all PTO meetings and maintaining and distributing the calendar. Please consider getting more involved with our school. If you are interested in this position, then please contact Jen Wittenberg or Justine Barnao before this Wednesday.

Last PTO Meeting – Wednesday, May 25th

Please join us for the last PTO Meeting of the year on Wednesday, May 25th at 7:00pm. If you have any ideas for next year, such as new fundraisers, please come and share them with us. The new PTO Executive Board will be voted on and announced. Free babysitting will be available!

Memorial Day Picnic – Friday, May 27th

The PTO will be providing ice cream sundaes for the Memorial Day Picnic on Friday, May 27th. Please sign up to help serve the ice cream at the Memorial Day Picnic 2016 SignUpGenius. Refer to the Spirit Committee’s Memorial Day Picnic flyer for more information.

    • Fifth Grade goes to Health Room
    • Fourth Grade goes to Art Room
    • Projects will be on display for observation by all grades during the school day.
  • 4:30-5:30pm – 1st Performance Liberty Science Center Show
  • 6:00-7:00pm – 2nd Performance Liberty Science Center Show
  • 7:00-7:45pm – Fourth & Fifth Grade Experiment Expo (Our fourth and fifth grade scientists will be available to explain their projects.)
    • Fifth Grade projects are displayed in the Health Room
    • Fourth Grade projects are displayed in the Art Room
  • 7:45pm – Science Fair is over

ALL SCIENCE PROJECTS MUST BE TAKEN HOME AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE NIGHT’S EVENT.

Clothing Drive – TODAY

Drop your sealed bags of clothes and other items near the bus turn around from 3:15-6:00pm today. For more details, refer to the Spring Clothing Drive Flyer.

Pretzel Day – Orders Due Tuesday, May 17th

Pretzel orders are due Tuesday, May 17th for delivery on Friday, May 20th. Don’t forget to send in $1 in the Pretzel Day envelope! This is the last Pretzel Day of the year!

Science Night Update – RSVPs due Thursday, May 19th

The PTO is sponsoring a Liberty Science Center Assembly on Tuesday, May 31st. Your children are going to love “A Dose of Gross” program. Please complete and return the Liberty Science Center RSVP by Thursday, May 19th.

 

If your child is unable to attend the session assigned to their grade level, please simply RSVP as such or email Christine Butler (caleighbutlersmom@gmail.com). If siblings from different grade levels would like to attend the same session, please just indicate that on the RSVP form or email Christine Butler.

Poetry Slam – Thursday, May 19th

Please support our talented Fairview students by attending the Poetry Slam at Barnes & Noble in Holmdel on Thursday, May 19th from 5:00-8:00pm. Refer to the Poetry Slam flyer for more details.

The Spirit Committee is asking all students to wear pink on Friday, May 20th.

There are still beautiful plants available for sale. They are located by the front door of the school. If you would like to make a purchase, just put cash or a check payable to the Fairview PTO in an envelope marked “Plant Sale” and leave it in the main office.

Author Day Book Order Form – Due Tomorrow

On May 19th, critically acclaimed author/illustrator Dan Yaccarino will be visiting Fairview! To purchase an autographed book, please complete the Author Day Book Order Form and return it to school with payment (cash or check payable to Fairview PTO) in an envelope marked “Author Day Book Orders”. Orders are due tomorrow, May 2nd.

PTO Nominations – Due May 4th

It’s time to step up and take charge! Please consider taking a position on the PTO Executive Board. Complete the PTO Nomination Form and return it to school by Wednesday, May 4th.

Spring Plant Sale – Volunteers Needed – May 5th & 6th

Volunteers are needed to set up, sell and clean up for the Spring Plant Sale on May 5th & 6th. Yearbook Orders – Due May 6th

It’s time to order your yearbook! You must reserve your copy, since there will NOT be extra yearbooks available. Please submit the completed Yearbook Order Form and your payment (cash or check payable to Fairview PTO) in an envelope marked “Yearbook Order” by Friday, May 6th.
