Note from Mr. Melando

A Note from Mr. Melando

It is will great excitement that I extend my first message to you. I am humbled to be afforded the opportunity to serve as your principal, and I am very much looking forward to begin my new role.

My immediate goal is to become acquainted with parents, students, and staff. To that end I aim to be present at the upcoming PTO sponsored events on May 15th, 19th, and 20th.
As I transition from Thompson with a fully effective date of July 1, 2015 I am filled with hope and confidence that we will accomplish great things together.

Invention Convention

Last night our fourth and fifth graders had a chance to show off their ingenuity at the Invention Convention. Everyone was impressed with the children’s efforts and I had to resist stealing some of the prototypes for myself. The children should be very proud of their efforts!

I will be posting pictures additional pictures and videos once I secure parental permissions but will start with Jessica Ardolina’s video! Please take a moment to watch and share with your children.

Liberty Science Center Circus

Last night we had our Science Night and it was action packed. We started the night off with a Science Circus presented by Liberty Science Center. The interactive fun show was a big hit with the children that attended this free night event. They were so busy having a good time that they didn’t notice they were learning.  Special thanks to Science Night Chair Megan Dzwonkowski for securing Liberty Science Center at a very discounted price. Thank you to the Science Fair Committee: Barbara Cassin, Megan Dzwonkowski, John Little, Ravi Sarma and Rebecca Thal for putting together a great night event!  Events like this would not be possible without all our fantastic volunteers!

Yesterday the Reptile Guy came to visit Fairview for an assembly. He brought harmless snakes, enormous frogs and cool lizards with him and put on a wonderful educational show. This assembly  was made possible by your PTO donations.
